Raising Breast Cancer Awareness in Campbell River

Raising the public's awareness of breast cancer remains our top goal. River Spirit began in 2003 and at that time it was exclusively a breast cancer survivor team. It expanded in 2009 to include associate members. Today, our paddlers compete in festivals and participate in local events to bring hope to the thousands of Campbell River citizens whose lives have been touched by cancer. We hope, by our example, to encourage others faced with a life threatening diagnosis to embrace “life, love & laughter”.

Pursuit of Athletic Excellence and a Spirit of Good Fun

We encourage athletic excellence amongst our members through paddling and participating in dragon boat races. From early Spring until Fall we practice two or three times a week out of the Fresh Water Marina in Campbell River, and we compete in all the major dragon boat events on Vancouver Island. We paddle seriously, but we do our best to keep it all good fun. Above all else, we believe in keeping a spirit of camaraderie and solidarity alive between our paddlers.
